We are excited to announce that Dr. Michael Abendroth has joined Philadelphia Eye Associates as a full-time surgical and clinical ophthalmologist. Dr. Abendroth was born in Boston and raised in Hershey, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Dartmouth College then earned his Doctor of Medicine and Master of Business Administration degrees from Penn State University, where he was elected into the Alpha Omega Alpha and Beta Gamma Sigma honor societies. He completed his internship at MacNeal Hospital in Chicago, where he was awarded Intern of the Year, followed by his residency at Wills Eye Hospital, where he was a Chief Resident. He specializes in comprehensive ophthalmology, cataract surgery, refractive surgery, and Minimally Invasive Glaucoma Surgery (MIGS). He also has a special interest in patient education, safety and quality improvement, and practice efficiency. In his free time, he enjoys hiking, traveling, and trying new recipes.
Dr. Abendroth is available to see patients at the South Broad Street and Wills Eye Hospital offices.
