Dr. Feldman joined the Philadelphia Eye Associates after completing a prestigious fellowship at the Duke University Eye Center, considered one of the nation’s premier training centers. Thirteen years earlier, he had majored in Biology at Duke University for his undergraduate training. Following graduation he returned home to Rochester, New York, attended the University of Rochester School of Medicine, and upon graduation was chosen by his peers to deliver the class valedictory address. After a year of internship at the Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia, he completed a three-year ophthalmology residency at the George Washington University in Washington, DC, where he served as a Chief Resident during his final year. Throughout his training and career, he has been particularly interested in improving health care quality both domestically and abroad. He was awarded the ASCRS Foundation Grant in 2007 to study the role of virtual reality simulation in cataract surgical training—a tool that could improve the safety of surgery just as flight simulators have improved the safety of flying. He has presented, lead instructional courses, and published extensively on this and other topics in leading ophthalmology journals and at the annual meetings of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, and the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology. Dr. Feldman is available to see patients at the South Broad Street and Wills Eye Institute offices, and is an active part of the teaching staff on both the Cornea Service and Cataract and Primary Eye Care Service. |
