Dr. Abendroth was born in Boston and raised in Hershey, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Dartmouth College then earned his Doctor of Medicine and Master of Business Administration degrees from Penn State University, where he was elected into the Alpha Omega Alpha and Beta Gamma Sigma honor societies. He completed his internship at MacNeal Hospital in Chicago, where he was awarded Intern of the Year, then his residency at Wills Eye Hospital, where he was a Chief Resident.
Dr. Abendroth specializes in cataract surgery, refractive surgery, and Minimally Invasive Glaucoma Surgery (MIGS). He also has a special interest in patient education and quality improvement. He has presented his research at international conferences and is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery.
