Dr. Jackie Mandell was born and raised in South Jersey. She graduated from Northwestern University with a degree in Psychology then earned her Doctor of Medicine degree at SUNY Upstate. She completed her internship at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital then studied inherited retinal dystrophies at the Scheie Eye Institute of the University of Pennsylvania. She returned to SUNY Upstate for her residency in Ophthalmology then completed a Medical Retina fellowship at the Keck Eye Institute of the University of Southern California. Afterwards, she spent five years practicing Medical Retina and Comprehensive Ophthalmology in San Diego and was distinguished as a “Top Doctor” by San Diego Magazine. She then returned to Philadelphia in 2021 to join Philadelphia Eye Associates.
As a Medical Retina specialist, Dr. Mandell specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of all medical diseases of the retina, including flashes and floaters, retinal tears and holes, diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration, and retinal artery and vein occlusions, using injections, lasers, and medications when needed.
She is board certified in Ophthalmology and an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Retinal Specialists, American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, and Women in Ophthalmology.
